Step Into Your Greatness - 05.31.2025

He Lived. He Truly Lived.

That’s the epitaph from Secondhand Lions:
"He lived. He truly lived."

And that’s the goal, isn’t it?

To live—not just exist. Not just drift from Zoom meeting to Zoom meeting, inbox to inbox, checklists to checkouts. To actually, fully, wildly LIVE.

This past weekend, my son and I hoofed it around Chicago.
Nearly 40 miles on foot.
We laughed. We ate way too much pizza and ice cream.
We swam in the hotel pool like it was the ocean.
We screamed every lyric at the AC/DC concert at Soldier Field.

And when bedtime came around, we asked our usual question:
“What was your favorite part of your day?”

We had no answer.
Because it was all amazing.
All of it.

Not one highlight. Just a string of magical moments.

Here’s the truth:

Life isn’t something to balance.
Life isn’t something to integrate.
Life is something to live.
Everything else — work, meetings, projects — is a part of life.
But it’s not life.

Just before we left, I wrote:

"All gas, no brakes. That’s what life has felt like lately.
And honestly? That’s not good.
So we’re hitting pause.
No work.
No phone calls.
Just living. Together.”

This wasn’t just a weekend getaway.
This was a reset.
A recalibration.
A reminder.

I was giving my son a memory. I was teaching him about life. We were exploring together. We were in the moment - living.

But I was also giving myself permission to be present.

So now I’m asking you:

👉 What would it look like to hit pause and pour into someone you love?

👉 What would it look like to hit pause and pour into yourself?

👉 What’s one thing you can plan — today, this weekend, this month — that fuels your tank and feeds your soul?

Don’t wait for someday.
Don’t delay joy.
Don’t postpone presence.

Live a life that echoes into eternity.
Spend time with the people who fill your soul.
Because without life, there is no work.
And without work? There is still so much life.

Your kids won’t remember what was in your inbox.
They’ll remember you cannonballing into a hotel pool.
They’ll remember you singing loud, laughing hard, eating ice cream for dinner.
They’ll remember you truly living.

So...
What was your favorite part of your day?

Let’s make sure there’s always a great answer.

Plan a Day You’d Want to Remember

Pick a day—this weekend, next week, or even tomorrow.

Block it off. Protect it like it’s sacred.

Then ask yourself:

👉 What would make this day unforgettable?

Not extravagant. Not expensive. Just unforgettable.

Plan one thing that fills your soul and makes you say:

“That. That was living.”

Then do it. And when the day ends, ask:

“What was my favorite part?”

And mean it.

I'd love to hear about it!

June 07, 2025 Everything we’ve built started with a question. What truly matters? Not: How fast can we scale? Not: What’s trending? Not: How do we go viral? But: What actually matters? This week, I’ve been reflecting on the stories behind the brands. The 100 Year Manifesto. Purpose Fueled. Best Lunch Ever. Purpose in Action. They’re not random projects. They’re chapters of the same story. My story. Your story. Each one was built out of loss, love, and longing for something more meaningful. And...

June 07, 2025 What if legacy isn’t a "someday" thing? You don’t have to be a great photographer to capture something beautiful. The light does the work. The stillness helps you see it. That’s what I was reminded of on my walk this week. I’ve been “working” on my photography for nine years now—not to improve a skill, but to become more present. That simple rhythm of daily photos has reshaped my definition of success. Maybe success isn’t more. Maybe it’s deeper.Maybe it’s one honest...

June 07, 2025 Leadership is presence, purpose, and people. Over the past week, I’ve been reminded again and again that real leadership isn’t flashy—it’s intentional. It’s showing up when it’s uncomfortable. It’s locking in when distractions want to pull you away. It’s making blankets with strangers because kindness matters. It’s saying yes to something bigger than you—like writing a book you never planned to write. This week, I saw it everywhere: In my son. In a brewery full of leaders...
